The town - Castellammare del Golfo
Protected by the gulf that extends from Cape San Vito to Cape Rama, Castellammare was the port and the emporium of the ancient towns of Segesta and Erice.
It grew up around the big Castle, an invincible fortress, on a promontory stretching forward the sea, surrounded by the sea on three sides and connected to land by a drawbridge, then made firm by walling. During summertime, the long beach, the hotels and the restaurant make of it the destination of a great number of visitors.
A few steps from the suggestive frame of Cala Marina (Marina Creek), it is born a small Museum, destination for everybody is fond of open sea and hobby nautical tourism. About 3 km far from the town, there is the railway station, connected, by a special shuttle service, to the centre of the town and neighbourhood.
